Your Song Psychotherapy

Hello. I’m Kristy Cartwright, M.A., RP

REGISTERED PSYCHOTHERAPIST • COUPLES COUNSELLOR • SOMATIC PRACTIONER • YOGA INSTRUCTOR

With over ten years in the social services and counselling field, I currently work as a Registered Psychotherapist who is passionate about connecting with individuals and assisting them in living out their true potential. Working collaboratively with each individual client, I learn what works best for you as we explore tools to support you in achieving long-term change and living the life you desire.

I have been passionate about helping people and understanding human behaviour for as long as I can remember. My personal challenges and journey to find balance within my own life has helped me to empathize and connect with others. I believe that our basic humanity and vulnerability connects us all and that we are never truly alone in our pain.

I aim to provide a safe environment to explore patterns within your life and difficulties you’ve been experiencing. Together, we can explore your concerns and past traumas, working towards lasting change that helps you progress toward the person you want to be.

Your Song Psychotherapy

Your Song Psychotherapy is a private practice founded by experienced Registered Psychotherapist Kristy Cartwright, located in Whitby, Ontario. Kristy is passionate about helping her clients find their own unique voice and expression, which is why she named her practice "Your Song".

Kristy specializes in individual and couples therapy, using a combination of therapeutic approaches, including somatic experiencing, emotion focused therapy and yoga psychology. She is dedicated to helping her clients develop greater self-awareness and personal growth through a holistic approach to therapy.

In her work with individuals, Kristy helps clients explore their emotions, thoughts, and behaviors, and develop tools to manage stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues and other mental health concerns.

In her work with couples, Kristy helps partners to improve their communication skills and deepen their emotional connection. She is committed to helping couples build stronger, more fulfilling relationships.

As a practitioner of somatic experiencing, Kristy helps clients to release physical tension and promote relaxation, and to work through traumatic experiences in a safe and supportive environment. She also incorporates elements of yoga psychology into her therapy practice, using yoga postures and breathing exercises to help clients develop a greater sense of physical awareness and release tension and stress in the body.

Kristy is known for her warmth, empathy, and deep commitment to her clients' growth and healing. At Your Song Psychotherapy, she provides a supportive and non-judgemental space where clients can explore their inner experiences and find their own unique path to healing and self-expression.

“Music moves us.  It touches a piece of our soul and connects us to our inner world in ways very few things in life can. Music attaches us to our memories, good and bad.  It transports and transcends us to places and times in our life as if they were happening in real time.

That feeling when you find a song that hits you in just the right spot is the experience I hope to co-create for my clients in therapy. It’s a feeling of being seen, held, heard… feeling loved, cared for, and known.  It’s that sense of being emotionally ‘well-fed’…when all your inner most needs have been taken care of.  There isn’t too much and there isn’t that sense of not enough.  When we find that sweet spot of life, similar to when we hear the right song and it captures your mood perfectly, we are left feeling a sense of release, contentment, and fulfillment.

My wish is that therapy will feel to my clients as though they’ve found their song. In each in every session, I hope for clients to feel heard, held and seen.  This is what Your Song Psychotherapy is about to me.” – Kristy Cartwright
